We have recently invested in Level 1 and 2 Makaton training for six members of the Care Needs team with more of our employees looking to complete further levels later in the year.

Did you know that 100,000 children and adults use Makaton as their main mode of communication or to support speech? Makaton is a language programme that uses signs and symbols to support those who have learning difficulties to develop essential communication skills including attention and listening, memory, comprehension, recall and organisation.

As a leader within the care sector, it is so important for us to put our service users first and continue to invest in training for our team so that they can deliver the best possible care. By using Makaton, we can deliver a more tailored compassionate care package to ensure that the adults we support feel they can actively communicate with us. Makaton will enable us, and our service users, to be able to sign for hearing aids, medicine, the toilet, washing, food, tablets and the TV.

It is also important to us that we continue to upskill and support our team of professionals through empowering and enhancing them with new qualifications.  We want to ensure that each and every member has a fulfilling career with us.

We are extremely proud of those that have gone through their training and are looking forward to continuing to lead the care sector in providing positive, forward-thinking solutions that meet the changing individual requirements of our patients. We would also like to take this time to say thank you to Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme for carrying out the training.
